Should athletes take omega-3 supplements?

Omega-3 fatty acids are becoming more popular. Studies show that people live longer and reduce cardiovascular disease. It also reduces people's resting heart rates and inflammation rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel diseases and asthma. These are all things athletes want, right? So, does it enhance athletic performance?
